There is provided a power management device and method. An interface is configured to receive data indicative of a frequency of electrical energy distributed by an AC power distribution system which supplies a load. Control circuitry is configured for processing the data for detecting a presence of a frequency instability in the AC power distribution system during which the frequency of the electrical energy deviates from a nominal frequency. In addition the control circuitry is configured to modulate an amount of electrical energy consumed by the load according to the deviation of the frequency from the nominal frequency.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 8, 2004 and granted July 21, 2020. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 8, 2024.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 8, 2026.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
