The present invention relates to an accommodating intraocular lens comprising an optical lens body that has an anterior body member and a posterior body member. The two members are joined to each other and the optical lens body defines a vision axis. A cavity is defined and enclosed between, the anterior body member and the posterior body member. One or more compressible struts are in the cavity extending between the anterior body member and the posterior body member. The struts are displaced from the vision axis and have first and second ends.
