Abstract From the Canadian patent

A device for setting, compressing, and/or fixing bone fragments comprising a bone screw having a front end with a first threaded portion a rear end with a second threaded portion an unthreaded middle portion, and a longitudinal axis. An installation instrument has a distal portion with an inner threaded portion configured to be threadedly engaged with the second threaded portion of the bone screw. A driving tool substantially coaxial with the distal portion is rigidly attached to a locking collar and includes an engaging portion at a distal end thereof for engaging a corresponding receiving portion of the bone screw to rotate the bone screw.
