There is provided height rescue apparatus comprising a load element 101 which is to be attached to a safety line which in turn can be attached to a secure anchorage. The load element is attached to an elongate clement 85 which is wound on a drum 90. The drum 90 is held against rotation by a releasable stop 104 which can be released after a fall has been arrested so that a speed control means can control the rate of deployment of the elongate element stored within the casing 86 and thus control the descent of a user 1. The portion of the elongate element between the load element and the drum has a greater strength than the remainder of the elongate clement coiled on the drum.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 13, 2005 and granted October 4, 2016. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 13, 2025.
- Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
