A method of balancing a wheel and tire assembly comprises the steps of disposing a balancing material consisting essentially of a predetermined amount of hydrophobic ceramic beads (20) with continuously rounded surfaces in a cavity formed by the tire and wheel pressurizing the tire with a gas, and rotating the tire whereby a portion of the hydrophobic ceramic beads migrates within the inner periphery of the tire to assume one or more positions so as to counterbalance imbalance in the wheel assembly.
