This invention provides for labeling reagents labeled targets and , processes for preparing labeling reagents. The labeling reagents preferably comprise a dye comprising a first phenanthridinium moiety linked to a second phenanthridinium moiety through a phenyl group in each of the first and second phenanthridinium moieties, which reagents are useful for labeling probes or targets. These reagents can be usefully applied to protein and nucleic acid probe based assays and are also applicable to real-time detection processes. Specifically, a sample of interest can be labeled with these reagents illuminated, and measured for fluorescent emission to detect the quantity of any nucleic acid …

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 11, 2003 and granted April 26, 2016. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 11, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 11, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
