The invention concerns highly structured silicas presenting the following characteristics: a CTAB specific surface (S CTAB) between 40 and 525 m2/g a BET specific surface (S BET) between 45 and 550 m2/g a porous distribution width lpd greater than 0.70. It is also relative to the use of these silicas for reinforcing polymers.

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 13, 2002 and granted November 18, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 13, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 13, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
