Abstract From the Canadian patent

An apparatus in an electronic control system allows two or three wire operations. A power supply (150) can supply power to the enclosed circuity in both two and three wire installations. Two separate zero cross detectors are used such that timing information can be collected in both two or three wire installations. Both zero cross detectors (110) are monitored and are used to automatically configure the electronic control. Over voltage circuity senses an over voltage condition across a MOSFET which is in the off state and turns the MOSFET on so that it desirably will not reach the avalanche region. Over current circuity senses when the current through the MOSFET's has exceeded a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 3, 2002 and granted June 12, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 3, 2022.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 3, 2024.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
