A video compression system (Fig. 2) is disclosed that is optimized to take advantage of the types of redundancies typically occurring on computer screen (11) and the types of video loss acceptable to real time interative computer users (11). It automatically adapts to a wide variety of changing network (29) bandwidth conditions and can accommodate any video resolution and an unlimited number of colors. Why it's free to use
- Filed April 7, 2003 and granted March 26, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 7, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 7, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
