Abstract From the Canadian patent

Protected anode architectures have ionically conductive protective membrane architectures that, in conjunction with compliant seal structures and anode backplanes, effectively enclose an active metal anode inside the interior of an anode compartment. This enclosure prevents the active metal from deleterious reaction with the environment external to the anode compartment which may include aqueous, ambient moisture and/or other materials corrosive , to the active metal. The compliant seal structures are substantially impervious to anolytes, catholyes, dissolved species in electrolytes and , moisture and compliant to changes in anode volume such that physical continuity between the anode …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 8, 2006 and granted April 24, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 8, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
