Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention relates to a method and a device for purifying and/ or separating preferably high melting organic raw products or compound mixtures containing, in particular, high melting and/ or degradable sterols by layer , crystallisation on first heat exchanger surfaces. The raw product is received in a solvent or solvent mixture, and then brought into contact with heat exchanger surfaces. The desired product crystallises on the heat exchanger surfaces by slow cooling. Solvent evaporating during the crystallisation or sweating process is condensed and returned to the mixture.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 26, 2006 and granted January 8, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 26, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
