Abstract From the Canadian patent

A first opening is provided in the rear portion of the main body, and a second opening is provided in the cap. The first and second openings are alignable with one another when the cap is detachably attached to the rear portion of the main body to enable a tether to be threaded through the aligned openings for tethering the writing instrument to an object.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 18, 2006 and granted April 23, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 18, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
