Abstract From the Canadian patent

Coding of spectral data by representing certain portions of the spectral data as a scaled version of a code-vector, where the code-vector is chosen from either a fixed predetermined codebook or a codebook taken from a baseband. Various optional features are described for modifying the code-vectors in the codebook according to some rules which allow the code-vector to better represent the data they are modeling. The code-vector modification comprises a linear or non-linear transform of one or more code-vectors such as, by , exponentiation, negation reversing, or combining elements from plural codevectors.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 14, 2006 and granted September 9, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 14, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
