Abstract From the Canadian patent

A real-time approximately 360 degree image correction system and a method for alleviating distortion and perception problems in images captured by omnidirectional cameras. In general, the real-time panoramic image correction method generates a warp table from pixel coordinates of a panoramic image and applies the warp table to the panoramic image to create a corrected panoramic image. The corrections are performed using a parametric class of warping functions that include Spatially Varying Uniform (SVU) scaling functions. The SVU scaling functions and scaling factors are used to perform vertical scaling and horizontal scaling on the panoramic image pixel coordinates. A horizontal …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 16, 2006 and granted June 3, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 16, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
