Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to a device for separation and characterization of gas-phase ions. The device incorporates an ion source a field asymmetric , waveform ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) analyzer an ion mobility , spectrometry (IMS) drift tube and an ion detector. In one aspect of the invention, FAIMS operating voltages are electrically floated on top of the IMS drift voltage. In the other aspect, the FAIMS/IMS interface is implemented employing an electrodynamics ion funnel including in particular an hourglass , ion funnel. The present invention improves the efficiency (peak capacity) and sensitivity of gas-phase separations; the online FAIMS/IMS coupling creates a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 6, 2006 and granted June 4, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 6, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
