The invention relates to a box-type ammunition cartridge magazine which can be fully or partially incorporated into an automatic and/or semi-automatic firearm (11), comprising a remote detection means (25) which measures the distance between an ammunition thrust plate (22) and the closure base (28) of said cartridge (21) magazine (29).
