Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a novel use of partly pre-hydrated lime with delayed reactivity consisting of 40 to 98 wt. % of CaO and 60 to 2 wt. % of Ca(OH)2 preferably 80 to 92 wt. % of CaO and 20 to 8 wt. % of Ca(OH)2 and more preferably 85 to 90 wt. % of CaO and 15 to 10 wt. % of Ca(OH)2 for separating solid matters from liquid in a suspension. The invention also concerns a method for treating sludge which consists in concentrating, drying and collecting the solid matters using said partly pre-hydrated lime with delayed reactivity. The invention further concerns the purified sludge obtained by said method as novel industrial product.
