Abstract From the Canadian patent
A method and apparatus are provided for detonation of a super-compressed insensitive energetic material (11) by cylindrical implosion followed by an axial detonation causing a detonation velocity several times and a pressure more than ten times that of TNT. The device provides a conical metal flyer shell (5) within which is disposed a cylindrical anvil (10) containing an insensitive energetic material (11) to be compressed and detonated surrounded by explosive (7). A first detonation of explosive (7) by impact of the flyer shell (5) generates a reverberating oblique shock wave system compressing the material (11). Axial detonation of the material (11) is achieved by matching the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 15, 2005 and granted October 23, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 15, 2025.
- Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
