Laundry treatment compositions comprising a hydrophobic (azo) dye and methods for , simultaneously washing and whitening a polyester-containing textile garment under , normal domestic wash conditions provide a shading whiteness benefit to the garment. , An aqueous solution may comprise (i) from 1 ppb to 5 ppm of a hydrophobic dye (which , is an azo dye), which when deposited onto the textile garment provides a blue , or violet , shade to the garment that imparts a shading whiteness benefit and (ii) from , 0.2 g/L to 3 , g/L of a detersive surfactant.
