Hip-joint prosthesis with a shaft (3) which is to be inserted into the femur and whose surface has an osteoinductive finish. This finish is provided exclusively in the metaphyseal portion (5) of the shaft (3) and laterally from the line (7) of maximum AP dimension of the shaft cross section. This ensures a better involvement of the metaphyseal spongiosa in the flow of forces, without compromising the ability to perform follow-up surgery on the prosthesis.

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 5, 2005 and granted May 15, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 5, 2025.
- Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
