Abstract From the Canadian patent

A photonic-bandgap fiber includes a photonic crystal lattice with a first material having a first refractive index and a pattern of a second material formed therein. The second material has a second refractive index lower than the first refractive index. The photonic crystal lattice has a plurality of first regions that support intensity lobes of the highest frequency bulk mode and has a plurality of second regions that do not support intensity lobes of the highest frequency bulk mode. The photonic-bandgap fiber further includes a central core formed in the photonic crystal lattice. The photonic-bandgap fiber further includes a core ring having an outer perimeter. The core ring …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 6, 2005 and granted March 11, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 6, 2025.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
