Abstract From the Canadian patent

A device for inserting an implant into a bone and/or backing-out/removing an implant from a bone. The device comprises a shaft a head connected to the , shaft, a channel through the head and a locking mechanism. A handle may also be provided on the shaft. In one position the locking mechanism engages the , head thereby preventing the head from pivoting and/or rotating relative to the shaft. In another position, the locking mechanism is disengaged from the head, such that the head can pivot and/or rotate relative to the shaft. The device may be used with a inserter.
