A dental handpiece (10) is provided with a drive motor (13) a drive shaft (12) operatively affixed to the drive motor (13) at one end of the drive shaft (12). A dental tool (11) is operatively affixed at the other end of the drive shaft (12). The drive shaft (12) is journaled within an axial displacement bearing (60) such that manipulated rotation of the dental tool (11) causes a first drive shaft section (61) to be axially displaced from and relative to a second drive shaft section (62). Why it's free to use
- Filed September 8, 1998 and granted April 4, 2017. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 8, 2018.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 8, 2020.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
