Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for synthesising a bifunctional complex which comprises a reaction product and an encoding region. The complex is a hybridisation product between a nascent bifunctional complex and a building block. The nascent bifunctional complex comprises an attachment entity linked to an oligonucleotide identifier region and the building block comprises a fuctional entity attached to an oligonucleotide which is sufficiently complementary to the identifier region to allow for hybridisation . The functional entity may then be transferred to the attachment entity by a chemical reaction. The complementary identifier region further comprises a unique codon which identifies the functional , …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 30, 2003 and granted February 25, 2020. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 30, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 30, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
