Abstract From the Canadian patent

In accordance with one exemplary embodiment the invention provides a multi- parameter fiber optic sensing system (10) with an aperiodic sapphire fiber grating (16) as sensing element (14) for simultaneous temperature strain, NOx, CO, O2 and H2 gas detection. The exemplary sensing system (10) includes an aperiodic fiber grating (16) with an alternative refractive index modulation for such multi-function sensing and determination. Fabrication of such quasiperiodic grating structures (16) can be made with point-by-point UV laser inscribing diamond saw micromachining, and phase mask-based coating and chemical etching methods. In the exemplary embodiment simultaneous detections on …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 9, 2006 and granted May 13, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 9, 2026.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
