An industrial fabric suitable for use in the papermaking industry, which has attached v-guided wherein the primary attachment mechanism is encapsulation of the fabric by the guide material, and not the chemical compatibility of the two materials. The fabric has one or more guides attached to a wear surface of the fabric so to encapsulate fifty percent or more of the fabric caliper. Advantageously, the encapsulation of the fabric by the guide, and not the chemical affinity of the materials is , the mechanism that attaches the guide and fabric. Consequently, the bond strength is equal to the tear strength of either the fabric or guide material alone.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 23, 2004 and granted April 22, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 23, 2024.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 23, 2026.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
