Abstract From the Canadian patent

Use of electricity in the treatment of acne or rosacea on the skin is described. The electricity is generated by a first conductive electrode that is an anode in electric communication with a second conductive electrode that is a cathode. Both first and second conductive electrodes are adapted to be in ionic communication with the skin where the , difference of the standard potentials of the first and second conductive electrodes is at least 0.2 V. Electrons that pass between the first and second conductive electrodes are generated as a result of the difference of the standard potentials. Use of the electricity through a device comprising the conductive electrodes is also …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 24, 2004 and granted March 11, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 24, 2024.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 24, 2026.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
