Abstract From the Canadian patent

Press fabrics used in the papermaking process need to drain a large amount of water through the fabric. It is advantageous to give greater dewatering and drainage capacity by providing voids which are reservoirs of minimum pressure available to accept water. The present invention is a method, and the fabric made by such method whereby a water permeable press fabric is given greater dewatering and drainage capacity by providing laser etched blind-drilled voids which are reservoirs of minimum pressure available to accept water.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 7, 2004 and granted June 25, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 7, 2024.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 7, 2026.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
