Abstract From the Canadian patent

The sensor (15) for picking up partial discharges in an electrical equipment tank (1) filled with a dielectric fluid comprises an antenna (16, 18) responsive to the electromagnetic waves generated by such partial discharges. In the sensor, the antenna is formed by two electrodes that are separated from each other by a dielectric resonator (17). With this , arrangement the, sensor presents improved sensitivity in the UHF range while being of dimensions that are considerably smaller than the dimensions of a conventional antenna for use in the UHF range.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 25, 2004 and granted October 7, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 25, 2024.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 25, 2026.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
