Abstract From the Canadian patent

Transgenic plants and cells that have been transformed with recombinant polynucleotides , encoding CCAAT-binding polypeptides are disclosed. Also provided are homologs of the , CCAAT-binding polypeptides from a variety of plant species and methods of using these , polynucleotides and polypeptides to produce transgenic plants having advantageous , properties compared to reference or control plants. The CCAAT-binding polypeptides , have been shown to confer to the transgenic plants late or early flowering or , increased , tolerance, to various abiotic stresses including salt abscisic acid, cold, heat, sugar, and drought, as compared to the reference or control plants.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 25, 2004 and granted July 26, 2016. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 25, 2024.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 25, 2026.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
