Interstitial cystitis and related GAG-deficient conditions of the bladder and urinary tract are treated by instillation of high dose chondroitin sulfate such as 400mg/20mL. The higher dose of chondroitin is effective for the rapid reduction of symptoms, particularly in patients with severe and otherwise recalcitrant cystitis.

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 18, 2004 and granted July 10, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 18, 2024.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 18, 2026.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
