Abstract From the Canadian patent

On a BD-ROM, an AV Clip and a plurality of playback section information (PlayItems) are recorded. The AVClip includes a video stream multiplexed with a plurality of elementary streams. The playback section information Playable_PID_entries showing the playback start point and the playback end point in the video stream correlated with the filtering specification of each elementary stream. The filtering specification specifies whether each of the plurality of elementary streams are able to be played back or not.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 18, 2004 and granted September 25, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 18, 2024.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 18, 2026.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
