Abstract From the Canadian patent

Systems and methods for efficiently conveying one or more broadband communication channels over a transmission medium. Communication is effected by transforming an incoming digital bit stream into a Time-and-Frequency- Bounded (TFB) information stream that includes a plurality of TFB packets. This transformation is accomplished through the use of a plurality of TFB basis functions. The TFB information stream is then transmitted over the transmission medium. More particularly digital bit streams carried on one or more incoming channels are in the form of binary "on" and "off" bits. These digital bits are converted into a plurality of TFB waveform components which together comprise a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 19, 2003 and granted October 30, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 19, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 19, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
