The invention provides for a polymerization process to produce polymers utilizing a , hydrofluorocarbon diluent. The process comprises contacting one or more monomers, one or , more Lewis acids, one or more initiators and a diluent of one or more , saturated or unsaturated hydrofluorocarbons in a reactor. The Lewis acid has a Lewis acid metal from , Groups 4, 5 or 13 to 15 of the Periodic Table. The HFC is represented by the formula C x H y F z , wherein x is an integer from 1 to 40 and y and z are integers of one or more. The temperature , of the polymerization is less than 0°C and the pressure is from 0 to 14,000 kPa.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 19, 2003 and granted January 8, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 19, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 19, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
