Abstract From the Canadian patent

Broadcasting on the FM band suffers from one major disadvantage for digital transmission on account of a propagation problem called spatial fading or flat fading. The invention concerns a method for modulating a digital signal of width L in frequency on a specific useful frequency band. The invention is characterized in that it comprises the following steps: separating the digital signal into N blocks b¿n? (1 = n <= N) partitioning the specific useful frequency band into N adjacent parts P¿n? defining channels C¿n?, of width l¿n? in frequency included in one associated P¿n? part, the channels C¿n? being separated distributing each bloc of digital signals b¿n? over the associated channel …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 15, 2003 and granted July 9, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 15, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 15, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
