Abstract From the Canadian patent

An optical fiber amplifier system is described and comprises a first optical fiber having a doped core with a first gain spectral profile upon being pumped. The first optical fiber is adapted to receive an optical signal from a light source. A second optical fiber has a doped core with a second gain spectral profile upon being pumped. The second optical fiber is optically coupled to the first optical fiber. A pump light system is optically coupled to the fibers so as to store energy in the fibers for a subsequent amplification of the optical signal from the light source. An overlapping configuration is provided between the first gain spectral profile and the second gain spectral profile so …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 6, 2005 and granted January 15, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 6, 2025.
  • Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
