Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a method for separating microseismic signals from seismic signals acquired in the context of active seismic monitoring operations of underground zones being exploited. It consists in producing seismic recordings from signals emitted by a single or several seismic sources monitored by signals orthogonal relative to one another. In that case the signals are processed to separate the respective contributions of the seismic sources to the received signals and reconstruct the seismograms equivalent to those which would be obtained by separately actuating the seismic sources. The induced microseismic signals (passive seismics) are separated from the seismic signals derived …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 1, 2003 and granted August 20, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 1, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 1, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
