The technical field of the invention is specific to painting under glass (also called Reverse Painting on Glass). For centuries on 5 continents, day after day, an effective means of protecting the fragile back of paintings under glass is lacking. The invention consists in a new sealing process intended for painting under glass which backs onto a partition. Broadly speaking the advantages of the invention for paintings under glass are: 1) the painting is waterproofed; 2) it preserves the brilliance of the colours; 3) it improves the painting's resistance; 4) it protects the painting from its environment.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 18, 2005 and granted July 30, 2013. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 18, 2025.
- Certificates of supplementary protection extend only drug patents, and it isn't classified as one.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
