Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method of strengthening the presentation of a foreign epitope by MHC class I by inhibiting TAP activity. A mammalian cell-infecting viral vector encoding both of a TAP inhibitor and epitope-binding .beta.2m is constructed and transferred into mammalian cells. Thus endogenous MHC class I/peptide , complexes are decreased by the TAP inhibitor and MHC class I/peptide complexes containing epitope-binding .beta.2m expressed from the vector are successfully presented on the cell surface at a high frequency. This method is useful in the vaccine therapy for infection and cancer.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 1, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 1, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 1, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
