The subject of the invention is a mechanical machining process for flexible panels especially of complex shape, in which the panel to be machined (1) is held immobile by its edges on a rigid support (5 5', 25) and a machining tool (3) is applied against one (1a) of the faces of the said panel (1) and controlled to carry out the desired machining characterised in that it consists in at least counter-balancing the machining force exerted by the tool (3) on the panel (1) by the application through the use of an appropriate support means on the face (1b) of the panel (1) opposite to the one (1a) to which the tool (3) is applied with a force (F) essentially facing the said tool the said support …
