A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) (60) may include a plurality of nodes (61 62) , for transmitting data therebetween and a policing node (63). The policing node (63) may detect intrusions (64) into the MANET (60) by monitoring transmissions among the plurality of nodes (61 62) to detect transmissions , during an unauthorized period and generate an intrusion alert based thereon. The policing node (63) may also detect intrusions (64) based upon one or more of integrity check values which do not correspond with respective data packets, usage of non-consecutive media access control (MAC) sequence numbers by a node, and collisions of packet types and/or MAC addresses.

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 11, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended August 11, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 11, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
