The sample fluid is placed on a sample region of the substrate. Energy is imparted to the sample fluid and energy properties of the fluid can be detected to produce a sample fluid reading that indicates osmolarity of the sample fluid. An aliquotsized volume can comprise, for example a volume of no more than 20 , microliters (~L). The aliquot-sized sample volume can be quickly and easily obtained, even from dry eye sufferers. Why it's free to use
- Filed March 25, 2003 and granted June 3, 2014. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 25, 2023.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 25, 2025.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
