A protein A binding to the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor and another protein B interacting with the protein A are provided. Based on the fact that these proteins remarkably promote the signal transfer of the NMDA receptor, controllers (inhibitors or promoters) for the expression and/or functions of these proteins and a method of controlling the same are provided. Thus, it becomes possible to clarify diseases caused by failures in the NMDA receptor signal transfer or memory regeneration for example, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer~s disease Parkinson~s disease , and polyglutamine disease as well as to prevent ameliorate or treat these , diseases.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 20, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 20, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 20, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
