Abstract From the Canadian patent

An optical transmitter (50) includes a laser driver (52) capable of receiving data and applying the data to drive a laser diode (58) over a transmission line (54) having first and second ends. The first end of the transmission line (54) is coupled to an output of the laser driver (52). A first terminal of an amplifier (56) is coupled to the second end of the transmission line (54). A second terminal of the amplifier (56) is coupled to the laser diode (58). The signal amplitude applied at the first terminal controls optical output amplitude of the laser diode (58).

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 11, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 11, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 11, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
