Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for geographical surveying includes the steps of determining an observation grid (24) comprising observation points (22) above a solution (16) volume in the ground; making gravitational measurements at the observation points (22) over a survey area; compiling a matrix having elements relating a set of gravitational accelerations and gravity gradient values at the points to the mass values for volume elements in the solution volume (16); and calculating the three-dimensional density distribution of the volume under the survey area based on the gravitational measurements and the inverse of the matrix. By measuring the magnetic field and gradient at the observation points, …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 26, 2003 and granted July 3, 2012. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 26, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 26, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
