A boom control system for a sprayer boom includes a pressure reducing valve for communication with the hydraulic lifting circuit of the boom to maintain the lifting circuit at a set point pressure. A gauge wheel is attached below the boom so that the boom follows ground contours. In the event that low pressure occurs which is typically not visible to an operator in such a system an alarm will alert the operator in the cab to prevent continued movement of the sprayer across the ground to prevent breakage of the boom.
