A pumping module comprising a cascaded Raman laser for Raman amplified optical transmission systems is disclosed. Non-linear parametric phenomena such as , Raman-assisted three-wave mixing in Raman amplified signals from a cascaded Raman pump are strongly reduced by substantially suppressing from the output spectrum of the Raman pump the emission peaks at wavelengths shorter than that of the desired pumping wave on a specific wavelength .lambda.n and within a , given spacing from .lambda.n. The pumping non-zero dispersion fibres with zero dispersion comprised between the wavelength range of the transmission signal and the wavelength range of the pump signal.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 31, 2002. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 31, 2022.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 31, 2024.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
