A cosmetic composition is provided which includes an organic sunscreen agent and at least one salt of a malonic acid. The malonate salt inhibits discoloration which may arise from the presence of the sunscreen agent. Of particular concern in forming color bodies is 4,4'-t-butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane.
