Polyester fibers having a single-fiber fineness of 0.1 to 1.0 dtex are produced from a polyester polymer obtained by condensation-polymerizing an aromatic dicarboxylate in the presence of a catalyst which comprises a mixture of a titanium compound ingredient (A) comprising a titanium alkoxide and at least one product of the reaction of the titanium alkoxide with a specific carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof and a specific phosphorus compound ingredient (B) and/or comprises a product of the reaction of a titanium compound ingredient (C) with a specific phosphorus compound ingredient (D).
