Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to a proton conducting polymer membrane based on polyvinylsulphonic acid obtained by a method comprising the following steps: A) mixing a polymer with sulphonic acid containing vinyl B) forming a flat , structure by using the inventive mixture from step A) on a support C) , polymerisation of the vinylsulphonic acid present in the flat structure according to step B).The inventive membrane can be applied in a varied manner on account of the excellent chemical and thermal properties thereof and is particularly suitable for use as a polymer-electrolyte-membrane (PEM) in PEMfuel cells.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 4, 2003. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 4, 2023.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 4, 2025.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
